How Down the River works
Four cards, three draws, three rivers. The lowest seven different ranks wins. Try each step: the game checks your answers.
1. The rules
- 4 cards each. The board is 10 cards face down: a top card over a 3×3 grid. Each column of the grid is a river.
- Three draws first. Draw 1 (up to 3 cards), Draw 2 (up to 2) and Draw 3 (up to 1) come back to back, with no bet between them. Standing pat is fine.
- Then the rivers. Bet. River 1 turns, bet. River 2 turns, bet. River 3 turns, last bet. Then the top card turns and the hands are shown.
- Your hand is 7 cards. All 4 of yours plus one whole river, or 3 of yours plus the top card plus one whole river. Rivers never mix. The game finds your best one.
- Lowest wins. All 7 ranks must be different. Aces are low, suits and straights don’t count. 7-6-5-4-3-2-A is the best hand.
- Nobody makes 7 different ranks? Nobody wins: the pot carries over and the players still in it are dealt again.
